Its controversial days in the past, the DuPage Airport Authority is riding the triple wave of its airport operations, high-tech park and golf course into a financial boon that will be worth $1.6 billion to the area economy by 2011.
For executives tired of the headaches that can be found at large metro-based airports, flying into regional corporate and general aviation airports might ease the pain.
“Without a doubt, DuPage Airport [DPA] is the premier corporate aviation airport in the Midwest-both land and air side.” David Bird, executive director of the DuPage Airport Authority (DAA) in West Chicago, told AIN.
DuPage Airport is one of the 100 busiest airports in the nation for the second straight year, rising to 81st in 2004, according to Federal Aviation Administration figures the airport released Monday.
DuPage Airport leaders hope to build upon last year’s growth with a $2.5 million Federal grant and two new hangars under construction.
